Kanon 2006 is the only anime I have ever watched that had the closest thing to what seemed to be a perfect ending. In my opinion Kanon 2006 and Toradora are just freaky AWESOME.
I love them both, not saying you will but you need to give them both a try. There is one dry spot in kanon but it goes by fast so it doesn't effect the story much. You can't go wrong with these two animes, and Utawarerumono is a really good anime.

Try these out and if you don't like them then I will change my direction of approach.

Shaman king you prolly have seen,action super natural
anime with a little romance and a lot of comedy.

For art work I would say blade of the immortal.

There is one anime that I must have you watch before you stop watching anime and that would be toradora. Its one of my faveorite anime ever that an kanon 2006 but you have prolly seen them both.

Lets see, Utawarerumono now that was a good anime... (I thought at least)
