I think a major part of the anime 'culture' has to do with conventions, whether you cos-play or not. Before 2008 I had never gone to a con before, though I did do renfaires. So, I am wondering: Who else goes to conventions? Which ones do you go to/like the best? Where do you hang out, in the events? etc...

I haven't been to a convention in over 15 years. I used to work all the ones in the SF Bay area. they are a lot of fun and a great way of meeting other people. I have had the pleasure of meeting Megumi Hayashibara and Go Nagai as well as a few other people and stars from the US but not from Anime Conventions.

well with my finances now and the fact that i could very well be losing my job at the end of next month i don't think i will make it to this years sakura con. i want to go. but will have to see what my finances now say and if i still have my job or not

Ooo! Ooo! I con! I con a lot. Sort of. I mean, this year I only really plan on going to two in the US, but I've been to lots of others. The two are MomoCon and Anime Expo. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to make it to either (especially Anime Expo), but yeah... Hoping for the best. If I do go, that would also mean planning on who to cosplay, since I refuse to not cosplay and go to a con.

I was at the first Anime Expo when they held it in San Jose but then the following year they moved it to Anaheim and that is pretty much where its been.

I think it would be fun to cosplay at a con! But.. I dont do well in crowds.. and none of my friends will go with me.. T_T
