Ok heres a request freebie lesson ^^ anyway ok lets get on

Make a sig or just an image then do the following to do a monotone

1.Take the image or the sig
2.Choose Black as your foreground and White as your Background
3.Go to the layers thing in the bottom right of the screen
4.Click that fusion of Black and white thingy beside the add mask. The thing is called Fill Layer
5.Click Gradient Map then click ok
6.Set Gradient Layer to Lighten or Soft Light
Your DOne XD or you may continue
7.CLick the Fill Layer again but now choose Photo Filter
8.Choose warming Filter(85) This will give your sig the old look thing
Done XD

The Gradient Color is Black and White
Pls do show your results and thnx for listening

This thing only works on Photoshop or maybe also in GIMP XD

Old look is called Sepia, instead of refering to shortcuts, i think u should say go to Layers>New Adjustment Layers>Gradient Map. It makes it easier to understand. Your "lesson" is a little too vague.

@Roroni
XD sry ok heres the Gradient Color.
Black and White

@Arekkusu
Well the Sepia thing result and this result is kinda different a little bit BTW if you do that then it would need to Gradient a layer so it kinda takes longer now since you need to go to Apply IMage then Gradient it then Photofilter would be harder if you do that.

@all
Note:Using the Gradient Map needs a layer not like the ones in the adjusment layer
Note2:Sephia can also be done in the Action beside the History which you can play and PS would do the work for ya

If you go to Layer -> New adjustment layer -> Gradient map
or any other adjustment layer, it does NOT need a layer before hand. so you do NOT need to make a new layer and image apply it before you make an adjustment layer. When you make an adjustment layer, then it creates its own layer :o I might take some screenies when i get home xD
*Is at school during lunch* xD

Ummm...SinX, its called monotone, not monochrome. There is also more than one color you can use to make a monotone. If you choose really light of any color and black, you will get a monotone of the color you chose first. Also, to get a cool yellow effect, you can fill a new layer with yellow and set it to multiply (in the top of the little layer window) and lower the opacity if needed (the top slider on the top of the little layer window).

Maybe, if anybody wants, I could make a little lesson like this for some techniques you can use in your sigs.

<br />^yes...from scratch
