yuri/ shojo ai

where are the lines?
i have two line questions
one.. where is the line between calling it a yuri or a shojo ai?
some say shojo ai is when there are only little hints of a girl likeing another girl but no kissing or relationship and that at the first signs of a relationship and kissing its yuri

some say light kissing and some dateing and such is shojo ai but a full relationship is yuri

some say anything yuri is a sexual relationship... anything with two girls being together without sex is is shojo ai

can anyone clear that up?... ive read so many diffrent opinions of it... is there even a right answer or is it just how you look at it?

also... some things ive watched that i have found on yuri/ shojo ai lists also confuse me
mostly gender benders
i just finished watching i my me strawberry eggs... and i dont think it should of been on the list...

yes i realize the girl likes the teacher that is dressed as a girl... but heres the thing... HE IS A GUY... i dont care if he looks like a girl there... he also acted maleish while dressed as a woman and the girl only liked him as a girl... i would understand if she liked girls in general.. but it was just him... and no other signs of love between females is in this show ( i mean side characters and such) so this.. i do not lable as yuri/shojo ai

yet something like kashimashi girl meets girl i do think can be labled under yuri/ shojo ai because

the boy turns into a full female.. with all the female bits and such... and there is also signs of love between two other females (just hints)

but then if i let kashimashi off the hook what about the animes that the person changes back and forth from woman to man?

To answer your questions.
1. I don't see a difference. If I had to classify it I would label teenage female romances as shoujo-ai. Yuri for adults. Not a big deal either way.
2. Gender benders? Well, I would count that as transexuals then. Again, not a big deal.

Nothing wrong with either gender benders or yuri. Just find them to be boring.

Shouldn't we limit our talk on these subjects ? As far as I know we have members less than 15 years old. In my view it's pretty inappropriate.

Shojo Ai and Yuri are two different things. Some may disagree with me on this, but here is more-or-less what they are:

Shojo Ai: Shojo-Ai is love between two females. Obviously. What should be expected from it is nothing more then confessions of love and kissing. In other words, it's more of a realistic (in my eyes) view on a relationship between two genders. Normally it seems these types of series are directed for the "younger" audience.

Yuri: Yuri, while still love between two females, is much more "hard-core". Kissing is obviously to be expected, they don't stop there and usually go all the way, so to speak. It seems it is not directed towards teens, but more of the adult audience.

Yes, hentai is just that -- sex -- I believe hentai is only used when talking about straight sex (male and female) and not gay relationships. Just like yaoi is guys having sex, yuri is females having sex.

Of course, that's just my take on it.

It is rather inappropriate, but as long as its clean, nothing bad can come of it, right? Just a thought...

i really don't see the lines to be honest. its just that we all have our own POV on every thing.
