Ok i wanted to know more about that term, so I googled it. Well I got a good thing for what they were talking about the but the anime list of Ecchi anime has anime that I wouldn't consider to be ecchi at all. so I am posting the list to see what you all think about it?

Which of those do you think aren't ecchi?

Every one I've seen on the list has flashing, sexual jokes, partial nudity, or other sexual themes.

well of the ones i have seen, ranma 1/2, Tenjho Tenge, stratos 4, Video Girl Ai, none of those are sexual in nature though. yes some of them have nudity but they are nothing that i would consider ecchi and by what they are listing then they left out several others. I don't think that what they listed to be accurate.

I mean Bleach could fall into the ecchi category because of Matsumoto always showing off her cleavage, the original Bubblegum Crisis could fall into it as well with all the blatent nudity of Priss at times when she was changing into her battle armor.

see how i understood ecchi was thats more sexual in nature but without the sex and it highlights a lot of body parts..

Ranma 1/2 is a gender-bender anime. That immediately makes it ecchi.
Tenjho Tenge has a girl that enjoys wearing a shirt that I would sooner classify as a sweat band...

Bleach could indeed be considered ecchi. Especially if you consider Yuroichi's scenes...

Bubblegum Crisis is an ecchi I believe.

If you wouldn't be comfortable showing a 10 year old an anime based on sexual content then it's ecchi.

ok so as long as it has nudity or something like that its considered ecchi? hmmm see back when I 1st started watching anime 30 plus years ago.. that wasn't even a term for something yeah it showed anime boobs but nothing was considered sexual that is what my friends and i considered Hentai then.

It was always a japanese term. It was just bastardized and used as a genre by Americans later on.
Hentai is a similar term to ecchi in Japanese. However, For Americans Hentai means anime p0rn while ecchi means sketchy anime. Pretty much the difference between R (for sexual explicit material) and X rated movies.

Ecchi in japanese means "perverted" while Hentai means "pervert" I believe.

Awww I saw the title and thought something completely different. Well since I'm here I'll toss in my two cents. The thing to remember about wikipedia it's user based if they're missing anything tell 'em it's not done one like a professional level. Also I've got every season of Ranma 1/2 I'd consider it ecchi, Bleach mmm not so much. I mean yea her boobs are out, but they never show them and the sexual activity isn't in every episode. I mean they don't even have a resident lech in the show.

ok i was on the phone a bit ago with one of my friends who i used to work the anime conventions in the bay area. And I asked if he ever remembers hearing the term ecchi, and this was late 80's to the mid 90's and he doesn't either. So to me and when looking it up on Wiki it explains something but I see it as a new term.

Now, of those that are listed do you people feel that of that list some of those don't belong? thinking about I can see Ranma has being ecchi, but Stratos 4 no. GTO I didn't think that either but maybe I didn't watch it enough? I only saw like 2 episodes. Witchblade as well?

The woman gets naked during EVERY FIGHT! Her battle outfit covers very little of her body at all.

That show is one step above Queen's Blade. (I actually never noticed the similarity in their names lol)

never saw Stratos though.
