Artemis Fowl is a series of fantasy novels written by Irish author Eoin Colfer, starring the teenage criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl II. The series is written in half-serious language, alternating dark moments with humorous ones, a style favored by a number of popular children's authors, including J. K. Rowling (Harry Potter) and Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).
Artemis, the main character, is a ruthless and extremely intelligent young criminal whose main goal is the acquisition of money through a variety of often illegal schemes (although his values change towards the 5th book). The author summed up the series as: "Die Hard with fairies."[1]
There are six novels in the series; the first was published in 2001 and the sixth released in the United States on July 15, 2008. To date, the series alone has sold over seven million copies. [2] A film based on the series is also in development, although the release date is unclear. Eoin Colfer has stated, jokingly, that the movie will be released "about two weeks after I die"
the first book Artemis Fowl is a young-adult fantasy novel written by Irish author Eoin Colfer, the first book in the Artemis Fowl series, and is followed by Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident. Described by its author as "Die Hard with fairies,"[1] it follows the adventures of its 12-year-old title character, a criminal mastermind, as he kidnapped a fairy for ransom.
Throughout the book, the third-person narration switches repeatedly from following the human characters to following the fairy characters, and presented underlying themes of greed and conflict. The book received a mostly favourable critical response, and several awards
airman Airman, by Eoin Colfer, is a best-selling[1] historical sci-fi adventure novel set in the 19th century. It was released in the UK, Ireland and USA in January 2008.
Colfer was inspired to write the book after a frightening skydiving experience. He combined this with his childhood observation that the Saltee Islands would make an excellent prison.[citation needed]
Most of the story is completely fictional. The Saltee islands have been uninhabited since the 19th century, and all of the main characters in the story are fictional
Mostly this is a story about a young boy named connor who has a love of flying and is extremly gifted in the area of creativity, inginuity(SP?)and pretty much anything that has to do with flying, gliding, and building those machines. He soon uncovers a plot to kill the king but upon trying to reveal the plot he is branded a traiter and is sent to little saltee as a prinsoner for life.
sorry about the overview... i'm terrible at writing them without feeling that i gave away too much of the story : /
