I bring this up because my friend's boyfriend saw me watching anime on my bed and he just heard the Japanese vocals looked over at the "cartoon" and said "Why do you always watch that Pokemon sh*t?" I tried explaining but it was useless.
And my Dad always asks me things like "Why do you keep watching kid shows, grow up" Lol
i find it funny everytime what about you guys? any stories u want to share? How does your family and or friend react when they see you watching anime?

Haha.. yeah my sister does that to me occasionally.. although she usually just tries to mock what they say in the anime.. I guess it's just cause people are ignorant to the fact that anime consists of more then just pokemon and dbz  |

When I watch anime, I sit in my room in front of the screen, keeping the screen at an angle that cannot be seen.
Also, I don't mention what anime I watch to others.
So nah.

It may sound weird but my dad actually watched DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho and HunterXHunter(The only ones he actually liked) with his kids(that would be me and my brother). And then came my mom saying how we got our anime enthusiasm from our dad. Though my mom see anime as unrealistic(about the drawing having big eyes). About my friends, we mind our own business though some of them are a fan of anime too.  |

All my friends aren't watching Animes and say it's kids stuff.
My family doesn't care about it. My parents hardly know that I'm watching Animes (that means if they know what animes are). If someone enters my room while I watch animes I simply minimize to avoid critism lol.

Nobody around me cares since I've practically grew up watching anime. If you like something, then don't let other people put you down and just let them get use to it. Well, that's unless you watch anime by bulks and sometimes refer to yourself as an otaku. Then, maybe you need to go see a clinic.

Well I dont know with my parents since the ydont care about what I do. My friends also watch animes though even if some of them don't, I still manage to keep my friends together XP

Well my parents and my brother-in-law are old fashioned and say i need to grow up and stop watching ''cartoons'', but unfortunately for them they always say that stuff when I'm watching so i barely take any notice and if they ever bring it up again while I'm not watching i just say ''well i could try taking up smoking instead i suppose...'' or something like that but they know i like kidding around but it still gets them to drop it. As for my friends, well i know a few that watch animes but my close friends don't watch so we keep talk of animes to a minimal. |

well i started watchin anime like dbz with my brother, but i thought that they were just cartoons. then it got more serious, i started looking for it on the internet, then from there me and my bro started watching anime a whole lot. some of my friends dont watch anime and are clueless to what it is, but i still talk about it like they do. They just go along with it and just nod their heads. sometimes they think im crazy  the only one that criticizes me is my sister, but she just laughs then says stop watchin your japanese cartoons! haha! i love them though, its really awesome! the possibility of doing something that cant be done, its just mystifying! |

My parents are always complaining how often I watch anime, especially my mom. She keeps telling me that anime is for kids and I shouldn't be watching it and concentrate on school work. In my mind I'm like, Orl? I wish you watch Elfen Lied or maybe Blood+... those are totally not a kids show, even I didn't watch those cause it too much for me. And she complains how the voice actors have identy problems.
And then people at my school that hate anime is because they have big eyes ...

My dad is almost 70 (I was born really late in his life) I was watching something, I don't even remember what it was at the time. He walked into the room and made some comment about me being too old to watch cartoons. I tried to explain to him that it was really an adult content program. He kind of got upset and said that cartoons were made for kids and they shouldn't use animation as a medium for adult content. Near the end of his rant, he said this and I quote.
"Next thing you know they'll be doing cartoon where people have sex with animals, or octopuses"
My first thought was, Dad it's octopi, that's the plural. My next thought was.....I prolly shouldn't explain to him what h- is.
